Work in progress - preparation for the watercolour class I am teaching tomorrow. Quite enjoying watercolours at the moment!!!

What to do when inspiration fails??

Yes its one of those days, when no matter what there is to do, its impossible to get started on anything creative. So whats the solution?? 

For me, get some fresh air first. Although today is bitterly cold, not the best of options. 
Get all the prep done, stretch paper, prime canvas, prelimary drawings, anything which cuts into creating time. 
Review past sketch books, sort through photos. 

Usually by the time I've looked through past sketch books normally fired up to get started again. 

If that fails, then its admin, deal with paperwork etc all the normal stuff which gets done in 'free' time,  paying bills etc.. 

So as the stretched paper has now dried best get on with some work.

Experimenting with watercolours at the moment - breaking the rules (no change there) - I find if you break the normal established rules of whatever medium you are working with, you either get a complete mess or a breakthrough with the medium. Either way you learn how it works!
