What to do when inspiration fails??

Yes its one of those days, when no matter what there is to do, its impossible to get started on anything creative. So whats the solution?? 

For me, get some fresh air first. Although today is bitterly cold, not the best of options. 
Get all the prep done, stretch paper, prime canvas, prelimary drawings, anything which cuts into creating time. 
Review past sketch books, sort through photos. 

Usually by the time I've looked through past sketch books normally fired up to get started again. 

If that fails, then its admin, deal with paperwork etc all the normal stuff which gets done in 'free' time,  paying bills etc.. 

So as the stretched paper has now dried best get on with some work.

Experimenting with watercolours at the moment - breaking the rules (no change there) - I find if you break the normal established rules of whatever medium you are working with, you either get a complete mess or a breakthrough with the medium. Either way you learn how it works!

Wow - along time not blogging!!

Busy year 2012! Not even enough time to regularly post updates! Not even looked at Twitter yet!!!
Website almost completed - just ironing out a few gliches...

Experimental photo - without the aid of photoshop!!!

Even though I took this photo with a digital SLR, no other manipulation with photoshop or similiar program has been used on this. The more I look at this the more levels I see in it, there appears to be different references in the image which tie into different mythologies, will be interesting to see how the painting finally resolves.

Two exhibitions coming up.

If you're in the North West (England), my new work will be part of the group show at Blott Studios in Blackpool and also I have a solo exhibition at The Solaris in Blackpool. Both in November - or should I say starting next week.. I will be putting work up 1st November for the Solaris and the 4th is the private view at Blott.
